The 29th season of Thursday Thunder produced new champions and several notable repeat champions on the quarter-mile Thunder Ring at EchoPark Speedway.
Jensen Jorgensen of Stockbridge, Ga. completed a feat no one has ever accomplished in Thursday Thunder history last night, as he captured his fourth consecutive championship in the Associates Group Insurance Pro division.
Jorgensen started on the pole in the twenty-lap feature, and not only did he win, but he led every lap on the way to his seventh victory of the year. Kyle Bacon (Buchanan, Ga.) started second and put major pressure on Jorgensen throughout the feature but was not able to get by Jorgensen and finished the race where he started.
“That is way harder than it looks to put a whole season together,” Jorgensen noted. “I mean, these were not easy races to win.”
Jorgensen is now a six-time champion across all Thursday Thunder divisions with one title coming in Outlaws, another in Semi-Pro, and four in Pro. Jorgensen also notched his fifty-fourth Thursday Thunder victory last night.
“Four in a row, I think that’s the first to ever do it. It’s very gratifying to be here to say that,” Jorgensen exclaimed with emotion.
As Jorgensen exits the 2026 season with another championship, he is already looking ahead to next year in hopes of competing for his fifth consecutive title.
Bryce Sanders of Ola, Ga. capped off his seven-win season with his first championship in the WJP Investments Semi-Pro division last night. Sanders started on the pole of the feature and led the first ten laps in a heated battle for the lead with Mitch Wright (Courtice, Ont.). Wright passed Sanders for the lead on lap ten to capture his third win of the season on the Thunder Ring while Sanders took home the Championship despite the second-place finish.
Camden Powers (Hernando, Fla.) took home the win in the Incentive Risk Management Bandits division feature after a late race pass on Casen Tate (Zebulon, Ga.). Tate however took home the championship, capturing his first Thursday Thunder title after a five-win season.
Carson Sherman (Loganville, Ga.) started last in the Incentive Risk Management Outlaws division feature but was able to cap off his eight-win season with his second consecutive championship in the series. Sherman’s back-to-back championship seasons brought fourteen wins in twenty races for the champion.
Patrick Motykiewicz (Theodore, Ala.) ultimately took home the win in the Round 10 Outlaws division feature after starting fourth on the night.
The Circle C Auto Sales Masters division feature saw Phillip Young (Dallas, Ga.) grab his second win of the season after he started on the pole and lead every lap. Jeff Bolen (Leesville, S.C.) took home his first Masters division championship after he had a solid race from the outside pole and finished third.
Corbin White (Barnesville, Ga.) started on the pole of the Incentive Risk Management Rookie Bandolero racing experience and held off the field en route to his third win of the season. Mason Massey of Lucedale, Miss. started on the pole and led flag to flag to take home the win in the WJP Investment Chargers division feature but not without a hard-fought battle with Kendall Stevens (Griffin, Ga.).
Due to inclement weather, the Bennett Transportation & Logistics Young Lions division championship feature has been postponed to August 7th at EchoPark Speedway. The anticipation continues to build to see who will be crowned champion in the Young Lions division.
The 30th anniversary season of Thursday Thunder kicks off in the summer of 2027 at EchoPark Speedway.
