The 28th season of Thursday Thunder racing kicked off under a Georgia sunset at the newly renamed EchoPark Speedway, with Jensen Jorgensen of Stockbridge, Georgia, dominating the Associates Group Pro division feature.

Jorgensen, the defending and two-time Pro division champion, led all 30 laps from the pole position to secure his first victory of 2025.

"I hadn't won a race this year," Jorgensen said after exiting his car in Victory Lane. "To get back in Victory Lane at EchoPark Speedway is pretty cool." He added, "The car was good though, and I knew at night, racing here all these years, I knew the track was gonna kind of come into my favor."

Earlier in the night, Eric Sampson of Fitzgerald, Georgia, claimed his first victory at the track in over a decade in the Circle C Auto Sales Masters division. Sampson took the lead following a lap 13 restart, holding off the pack to the checkered flag.

"It’s probably been 14 years since I’ve been around this racetrack," Sampson remarked, reflecting on his long history at EchoPark Speedway’s Thunder Ring.

 Sam Butler of Taylorsville, North Carolina, secured his first checkered flag of the season in the WJP Investments Semi-Pro division with a consistent and composed drive. James Behnke of Canton, Georgia, delivered another impressive performance in the Incentive Risk Management Bandits feature, driving from the outside pole to victory lane.

First-time winners were a theme of opening night across several divisions. Ryleigh West of Cumming, Georgia (Incentive Risk Management Rookie Bandoleros), Carson Sherman of Loganville, Georgia (Incentive Risk Management Outlaws), and Max Olmsted II of Greenwood, Indiana (Adrenalin Powersports Young Lions), all earned their inaugural victories at Thursday Thunder. Jaxon Burnett, a Washington native, also showed dominance in the WJP Investments Chargers racing experience, leading every lap of the 10-minute feature.
