With the opening round of Thursday Thunder in the books, drivers across six divisions looked to generate championship momentum in the second night of competition Wednesday.
Looking to build off of a hard fought second place finish last Thursday, Nick Woodall (Canton, Ga.) started The Associates Group Insurance Pro feature from the pole. Woodall’s stellar qualifying effort quickly paid dividends, giving him the opportunity to put an early gap between himself and the points leader Jonathan Taylor (Roswell, Ga.).
Things did not start off nearly as easy for last week’s winner and three-time defending champion Jensen Jorgensen (Stockbridge, Ga.). Jorgensen qualified third, but chose to start in the inside position on the third row to pursue more passing points. Jorgensen quickly moved forward, passing Dylan Bongiovanni (Cumming, Ga.) for fourth, but his race was derailed when contact while racing with Kyle Bacon (Buchanan, Ga.) caused a caution and relegated both drivers to the rear of the field.
While Jorgensen was buried in traffic, Woodall seized the opportunity to build a sizeable lead. During the final 26-lap run to the checkered, Woodall opened the gap between himself and Taylor to almost two full seconds. This proved more than enough for the Georgia native to sail off into victory lane, claiming his first checkered flag of the young season.
“Me and him (Jorgensen) are back and forth, whoever out qualifies each other wins”, Woodall said in victory lane post-race. “I’m happy we came out here and got it done.”
With the win, Woodall leaves the second round just one point out of the division championship lead. Jorgensen, who rebounded from his spin to finish third, is now tied for the lead with Taylor, who finished runner-up to Woodall on Wednesday. With the trio all using race-contending speed and passing points to their advantage, the pro division is the most hotly contested title fight of the young 2026 season.
In the WJP Investments Semi-Pro division, Bryce Sanders of Ola, Ga. made a late race pass to capture the win. Sanders was in the tire tracks of polesitter Mitch Wright throughout the race, hounding his bumper for most of the feature. He would ultimately make the pass for the lead with only three laps to go to secure his 11th career Thursday Thunder win and 3rd in the Semi-Pro Division.
Brandin Wisley of Greensboro, N.C. scored his first win in Thursday Thunder last night going on to the win the Circle C Auto Sales Masters feature. Brandin started on the pole and lead the race until lap twelve when a restart helped Phillip Young (Dallas, Ga.) jump out to the lead. Wisley, however, raced back too Young to regain his lead on lap 18 of the 20-lap feature.
Earlier in the night, Carson Sherman of Loganville, Ga., lead flag to flag in the Bennett Transportation & Logistics Young Lions Legends division to capture his second win of the season. Carson continues his 2026 Outlaws campaign in dominating fashion, hoping to end the season with back-to-back Incentive Risk Management Outlaws championships.
Carson, however, was not the only driver of the night to lead flag to flag or the first Sherman of the night to win.
Colton Sherman of Loganville, Ga., took the lead early in the Incentive Risk Management Rookie Bandoleros racing experience to score the win. At the same time, Turner Brown of Sacramento, Calif., (Bennet Transportation & Logistics Young Lions Division) and Evan Johnson of Vancleave, Miss., (WJP Investment Chargers Division) lead all the laps on the way to their respective victories Wednesday night.
In the Incentive Risk Management Bandits division, Camden Powers (Hernando, Fla.) earned his first win of the 2026 Thursday Thunder season.
