Chase Elliott delivered an unforgettable win under the lights in thrilling fashion in the Quaker State 400 Available at Walmart.

The Dawsonville, Ga., native expertly navigated his way towards the front in the waning laps of the 400 mile event, taking the white flag just behind race leader Brad Keselowski. With a shove from his teammate Alex Bowman, Elliott surged past Keselowski in the final trip through Turns 1 and 2 and never looked back, holding the lead for the final mile back to the checkered flag.

The last lap heroics energized the Georgia crowd; fans cheered, jumped for joy, and exchanged celebratory high-fives from the moment local hero Elliott captured the top spot all the way through his victory burnouts and frontstretch interview.

“This is unbelievable,” said Elliott in front of the raucous crowd. “All of the cards fell in the right places in the last couple of laps. What a crazy race. It was wild from my seat, but I’m glad we got to run that thing out there to the end.”

Elliott’s No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, specially designed by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta patient Rhealynn, added an emotional layer to the already dramatic evening. After starting 15th, Elliott methodically worked his way through the field throughout the night, surviving a race filled with 46 lead changes and 10 cautions to claim the second Atlanta win of his career.

As Elliott closed in on the final lap, Keselowski threw blocks high and low entering Turn 1 in an attempt to preserve his lead, but Elliott found an opening to the inside. With Elliott’s last lap pass, Keselowski was forced to settle for second after leading a race-high 41 laps.

“I just got doubled up on. The 48 and 9 cars were able to get together right when it mattered and worked together,” said Keselowski. “One-on-one, I could take them, but two-on-one it was just more than I had. It was a competitive day (for the RFK team), we’re not everywhere we want to be, but we’re making the most of our opportunities.”
